Click Publish and your calendar will then be on full display on your page or post. This will insert the shortcode for your specific calendar into the WordPress text area. Scroll down to the bottom right-hand corner of the calendar editor and click the open and closed bracket symbol. Now we are ready to add the calendar to our page or post. To do this, we are going to click the drop-down menu under Display Design Options and choose Colorful With Gap Between Events. This will color our calendar to make it more visually appealing to our customers. Scroll on down to the Display Design Options section of the calendar editor and turn on the Show Featured Image tab to do this.įinally, we are going to change the design style for the calendar. We would like the featured image to appear to the right of the event as well. By default, the featured image that we added to the event only appears when we click the event. Our first change is to the featured image for our event. At the top of the WordPress default page or post editor, you will see a button that says Add EventOn.Ĭlick on this button and then click Main Calendar. You will then be taken to the calendar editor, where we will make a couple of changes.

To add the event and calendar to your site, create a new page or post. Now that we have set up our event, we are now ready to add this to a calendar that will appear on our WordPress website. To do this, we are going to head on down to the User Interaction for Event Click section and choose the icon that has a popup with a close symbol at the top right-hand corner. We would like for the event to create a popup when the user clicks on an event. User Interaction and Popupsįinally, we are going to change the user interaction for every event click. Under the Organizer section, click Create A New Organizer. From there, we are going to add the organizer name and the organizer's email address, under the Organizer Contact Information field.Ĭlick Add New at the bottom of the editor to add the organizer to the event. We want to add this information in case any website visitor has a question about the spin class. Event Organizer and Contact InfoĪnother important piece of information that we want to add to the event is the event organizer and the contact information for the organizer. In my example, I choose a picture of people in a spin class. On the right-hand side of the event editor, you will find a section called Event Image. Click Set Event Image and either upload an image or choose an existing photo for the event. Next, we are going to add a featured image to our event to make our calendar look visually appealing to our customers. This will set the event to repeat every week so we don't have to create a new event every week for our spin class. To make the event recurring, switch on the Repeating event tab and click the weekly button next to Event Repeat Type. We would like the spin class to show up weekly on our calendar, but we don't want to have to create a new event each week. The spin class that is offered at the gym is a recurring class that happens every Thursday.

The class starts on 1 August at 9 am and ends on 1 August at 11 am. Scroll on down to the Time and Date section of the calendar and enter the date for the spin class.

Next, we are going to set the event start and end time. We are creating a spin class, so type in Spin Class as the title. This will bring up the event editor, where you can add your first event.Īt the top of the event editor, we'll type in the name of the event. Once you have installed the calendar plugin, head on over to the Events tab on the left-hand side of your WordPress dashboard and click Add New Event. Of course, the calendar and events that you create will be based on your particular business. We will be using the calendar to schedule a spin class, so that visitors of our gym website can see what time this class begins and ends. For our example, we are going to be creating a WordPress calendar for a gym.
